bye bye Room with a Past

Well I am really venturing out and said bye to Room as it's not comfortable for Susan to have me doing something similiar and work there too. No hard feelings, I have had a good time at Room, I will continue to go there, I can always get a spot back and it was a great experience. I went to the studio last week and brought more stuff, had lunch with Jeannie who runs "Inside Benicia" magazine and I will be putting an ad in the Dec issue. Getting the little things done bit by bit, need to get a website so I can post the items in the store on it and then people can shop without even leaving their homes!!! The way of the future....This is good practice for me, I need to be more computer savvy and learn how to post photos, edit etc....So much to learn but it's all good!!

Back to Biz

Looks like I am venturing out into the world of business all on my own, I know about the creative side but the business side is an uphill road of many twists and turns. I will trudge ahead and take it as it comes. Today I brought more stuff to Benicia, my days at Room with a Past are done but I will stay in touch with the place as I love it so. Just not going to work to keep my feet in both places and I want to explore Hip Chick's in Benicia. I'm struggling with a schedule as I don't want to be tied down and yet I know if I intend to sell things people will want to know when I'm open.....these are the big decisions I need to consider now that I'm a store owner.....That and how to post pictures, get a website, business cards, a sign for the front, a business license and the list goes on. But don't fret dear reader I will do it and by golly I will be victorious!!! How dramatic!! Let us (me and who ever is reading this) stay tuned to see how this all works out...............

Mother Daughter weekend

Day two of having a blog....off to Bass Lake for mother-daughter weekend!!! Woo hoo. There's not much better. Bass and chillaxin with my sweet girl Abby. Lots of swimming, bike riding, thrift shopping, crafting and painting, watching movies and goofing off!!!! Check you all on Monday with an update.....as if there's SO many people reading this!!!!!hahahahahaha.....

Hip Chick Designs

Hip Chick Designs actually started a couple years ago as my Interior Design business. Now I have an art studio in Benicia at 949 Tyler St. D next door to Rags to Riches clothing consignment. I decided to make my studio a true representation of all that I am. Namely antique furniture and accessories (which I also sell at Room with a Past in Walnut Creek), design services and decorating on a dime style makeovers, and custom pet portraits and commission art work. After all I have an art degree, interior design degree and I LOVE antique everything. So it seems a natural progression that I roll all this into one place and call it a business. I am just getting rolling so I don't have much to show but it's going to be exciting to see it develop. Stay tuned for pictures, and updates on the exciting Hip Chick developments........
