The Art of a Community-Benicia Art Gallery

Photobucket
Here's my painting at the benicia art gallery in the arsenal near my store. They are having a show called The Art of a Community. Photobucket On February 6th, 2010 at 5:00 Arts Benicia will host the exhibition’s annual reception and party, The Heart of a Community. This event is free and open to the public, and we encourage all those wishing to meet and support the exhibiting artists who are at the heart of Benicia’s art community to attend. This is my first time showing in a gallery and it's another 'first' for this hip chick. There are many talented, amazing artists in the arsenal so I'm humbled to be able to show something with them. It was freezing at the studio today, I had all the heaters on and it never dented the frost factor. I painted Aunt Gig's dog "Angel Baby" and enjoyed myself even though I was anxious to get home to a fire. Let's just say the studio is most enjoyed on warmer days.... Hope to see you all soon!!

It was a wet one today

Photobucket">
Today was my official "first day" since opening on Saturday, what an adventure!! Just getting to Benicia was an accomplishment in the heavy rain and wind. I had lots of new goodies to replace all that sold on Saturday, so I commenced to tagging and merchandising in case I had a drove of customers. hahaha. Not a lot of people were out in the downpour but lovely Linda and sweet Cathy did come by and purchase some goodies. Thanks ladies!! It was fun to be inside when the lightening and thunder was erupting, thankfully it wasn't too bad on the return trip. I started Aunt Gig's pet portrait of "angel baby" and the time flew by. As I was driving over the bridge it felt like I was being pushed around by some big gusts of wind. I heard there was a tornado watch on which is actually pretty funny. A tornado in California?? I think the weather man got a little too excited by all the wind and wanted some attention. Anyway we all survived another wet day, I hear there is yet another day of this ahead tomorrow. Good thing I have a pair of galoshes!!! Don't be too afraid to come on by and say hi!!!

Unbelieveable Day..............

">
Where to begin....at the beginning I guess. With the help of Ben, Alex, Abby, Holly, Ella and lots of others we got the place ready just in the nick of time. All my favorite people stopped by and shared in the joy and happiness of the occasion. There are too many to mention and I might forget someone but you all know who you are and I thank you for coming and supporting this dream. The place was hoppin all day long. The highlights were having everyone I loved in my favorite place and selling one of my paintings (a really unexpected bonus). Abby and Olivia got us off to a rocking dance fest when they danced to "heartbeat" in the back of Daisy. We all wanted to be a part of that action and we joined in and tore it up. The song list was part Copacabana and part Rocky Horror picture show. It was all mixed in and before I knew it the day was about over. Megan from Carmel Valley came at the end and helped us celebrate after at Chow's, where we feasted on dinner and dessert (we were all starving!). Hot tubs and good conversation topped off the evening and it was without a doubt on of the best days of this hip chick's life!! Thank you ALL for coming. I love you so.
